Aim: To enable the participants to design, test and debug mid-sized computer programs for solution of technical/chemical problems by means of Fortran or an alternative high level language like C.
|
Contents: The course emphasizes practical use of EDP as a tool for solving technical problems, based on examples taken from introductory chemical engineering courses. Examples are: Mass and energy balances, binary distillation, absorption, design of heat exchangers and searching and sorting of databases. In connection to this an introduction to the elements of a high level language is given, including: Indexed variables, library programs, files, modular program construction, methods for debugging programs, graphical presentation of results and the construction of a user interface.
