Aim: To provide the participants with a basic insight in the analysis of nonlinear dynamic phenomena as well as the theory and application of ordinary differential equations; further to enable them to carry through a simulation of dynamical systems using the computer.
Contents: Analysis of nonlinear dynamical systems by means of phase plane methods. Classification of equilibrium points. Limit cycles. Bifurcations, averaging methods, perturbation methods, stability, and chaos. Simulation of dynamical systems by numerical solution of systems of ordinary differential equations.
