Aim: To provide the participants with a both theoretical and practical general view and outlook of applications of organic synthesis. To improve the ability of the participants to reason independently and professionally. To expand the knowledge of technically and biologically important compounds.
|
Contents: Principles and methods for the formation of C-C and C=C bonds are dealt with keeping practical application in mind. The importance of stereochemistry for chemical reactions are emphasised and illustrated. New concepts and reactions are introduced, including electrocyclic reactions, conjugate addition of carbanions to unsaturated compounds, retrosynthesis, protecting groups, and rearrangements. The knowledge of the subject is expanded with technically biologically important compounds, including polynuclear aromatic and heterocyclic compounds.
