Contents: Structure and topology of data networks. Flow-control and ARQ-strategies. Different types of data networks, especially local area networks (LANs) and packet-switched networks (X.25). OSI and TCP/IP protocol-architectures, including protocols and interfaces for the lower layers. Principles and algorithms for routing. Interconnection of networks with bridges and routers. Transport protocols. Management of data networks. Frame-relay and ATM networks. Security and encryption in data networks.
