Aim: All working with telecommunications need to have an overwiev of the economics of a telecommunications network. How much will provision of a certain telecommunication service cost, and what are the key cost components within the network? How much should the consumer be charged for a new service?
On this course, the students will learn how to calculate cost based tariffs for telecommunication services.

Contents: The course deals with theoretic and practical problems related to cost analysis of production of telecommunication services such as Mobile communication, Internet access and IP telephony. The course will present the basic cost elements in a telecommunications network, and introduce different approaches for activity based cost accounting. Techno-economic concepts such as marginal- and average costs are introduced and applied. The course will also introduce different principles for tariffing and their impact on consumer demand.
