Department: Department of Buildings and Energy
Aim: To give a basic knowledge about engineering design including engineering descriptions of the reality and the nature of the creative processes by means of which a building project is developed and changed. By a coherent design exercise it is shown how different parts of engineering science are used simultaneously in order to coordinate a multitude of functional requirements into a complete building.
Contents: Theoretical and practical building design comprising design philosophy, engineering models and design methodology, functional requirements and building technology and application of materials. In addition are treated a number of basic disciplines necessary for the design exercise.
