Aim: To provide the students with a basic knowledge to the microbial processes and microorganisms involved in biological treatment of ground water, waste water, and organic waste.

Contents: Microbial activity and growth in suspended cultures and in biofilms, microbial degradation of pollutants, microbial processes involved in the removal of nutrients, pathogenic organisms and health aspects, methods for characterization of microbes an their activity in complex biological system.
