Department: Department of Chemistry
Aim: To provide a deeper insight on relations between structure and properties and on phase equilibria and transitions in solid state chemistry. Such fundamental understanding is important for solving technical-chemical problems, e.g. those associated with high temperature transitions of ceramic materials.
Contents: Structure and physico-chemical properties of solid materials including glasses. Energetics of ionic crystals. Non-stoichiometric compounds. Defect chemistry. Phase diagrams. Chemical reactions and transport processes in solid materials. Preparative methods. Corrosion, esp. at high temperatures.
