Remarks: The course is a superstructure on "04041 Statistics 1" or "04040 Statistics and Probability". The students learn how to make statistical analysis by means of the statistical analysis system SAS. Further, the course is an introduction to other statiscs courses that use SAS, e.g. Statistics 2 and Statistics 3.

Aim: To acquaint the participants with statistical work on a practical problem, tyoically involving many data. Descriptive methods are presented. The statistical analyses are carried out using modern statistical software (SAS), focusing on the interactive part: SAS Insight.
Contents: Both SAS Insight and SAS procedures will be introduced so that the students can use what they prefer. A project assignment based on an actual problem from a research institute or a company will be part of the course.
SAS: Howto, procedures, SAS insight. Descriptive methods. Transformations. Diagnostics. Measures of influence. Introduction to general linear models.
