Aim: The aim is to qualify the student to work with technical and project related subjects in relation with environmental management in the developing economies in tropical countries. The students shall be able to critically assess technologies and projects for environmental management in the third world.
Contents: Concepts and Principles for Sustainable Development. Methods and Tools for Integrated environmental Management. Technology Transfer, Participatory approaches and Stakeholder Analysis. Institutional Aspects. Cost Recovery in a Socio-Economic Context. Working on International Environmental and Development Projects. Appropriate rural water supply systems. Low-cost/tech drinking water treatment. Rural sanitation systems. Approaches to rural water supply and sanitation projects. Urban development in the third world. Approoriate solid waste handling. Wet sanitation systems for the urban third world.
