Kursusmål: The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to selected topics in modern synthetic organic chemistry. The main emphasis will be placed on methods for stereoselective synthesis. By arrangement and /or written notice at the department of Orgnic Chemistry, one of the following is offered. Course A deals mainly with synthetic methodology, while course B deals with total synthesis of complex molecules, particularly biologically significant natural products.
|
Kursusindhold: Course A
1.Synthetic planning and retrosynthetic analysis.
2.Carbocyclic ring systems: strategies, annelation; cyclization, ring modification, cation-olefin cyclization.
3.Diels-Alder cycloadditions; sigmatropic rearrangements.
4.Ene- and metallo-ene reactions.
5.Radical reactions in stereoselective synthesis: introduction, methodology, applications.
6.Asymmetric synthesis: introduction, discussion and comparison of strategies; synthesis from the chiral pool; acyclic stereoselection, use of chiral auxiliaries; reagent control; double asymmetric induction; catalytic asymmetric synthesis.
7.Examples of applications to the total synthesis of complex natural products.
Course B
1.Total Synthesis of natural product
