Department: Department of Organic Chemistry
Aim: The aim is to give an introduction to the field of organometallic chemistry, particularly applications of organotransition metal complexes in organic synthesis. A tentative list of topics include:

Fundamentals of structure, bonding and reactivity of organometallic complexes.

Preparation and reactions of :

Hydride complexes
Alkyl complexes
Carbonyl complexes
Carbene complexes
Alkene, diene and dienyl complexes
Alkyne complexes
Allyl complexes
Aryl complexes

In each area, an overview covering both well-established synthetic methods and more recently developed reactions will be given, including methods for asymmetric systhesis (in particular, asymmetric catalysis) and applications on industrial scale.
Contents: Organic chemistry, transition Metal, Synthesis.
