Aim: To provide participants with an understanding of the principles used in construction of modern digital communication systems including modulation, channel equalization, data compression, and error-correction.

Contents: Quantities of information, entropy of sources, source coding, channel capacity, error-correcting codes, digital modulation methods, optimal receivers, signal space codes, equalization, synchronization, spread spectrum.
