Aim: To provide students with a knowledge concerning the development of the markets for tele-based multimedia services and adjoining forms of electronic commerce with respect to the driving forces in supply and demand and business models.
|
Contents: The convergence between IT, telecommunications and mass media forms the basis for new possibilities for developing multimedia services and electronic commerce. Convergence also leads to a break-up of the dividing lines between different media, including existing business models. The course gives an overview of the driving technological, economic and political forces in the establishment of new markets for multimedia services and the business models that are developing on that background, including the electronic forms of commerce and economic relations that are prevalent on the technological platforms that are used. With respect to the political forces, the legal framework conditions for market developments in the multimedia area are dealt with: Intellectual property rights, consumer protection, etc. As a basis for the empirical knowledge, current and newer methods for market analysis and theories on national and international market establishment are presented.
