Remarks: The course is connected to other courses at CTI. It has however also relevance for other infrastructure areas (fx. energy, water, transportation) although empirically it concerns primarily telecommunication.

Department: Department of Telecommunication
Aim: To introduce to the students the methods of regulation of markets for new and existing telecommunication services in Denmark and internationally. Furthermore, the course will provide an overview of the economic and technological driving forces affecting the regulation. The course is of particular relevance for students specialising in telecommunications and/or Internet-based IT applications.
Contents: The course presents the key areas of regulation within telecommunication networks and services such as: interconnection, universal service obligation, tariffs, frequency regulation, numbering, regulation of Internet services, copyright on Web pages etc. The course also covers economic and technological justifications for regulation and existing rules and directives. Regulation in other countries is presented as well.
