Aim: This course addresses design of interactive multimedia systems, especially on methods for design and evaluation of multimedia user interfaces. The purpose is to introduce the essential concept and problem complexes related to the design of interactive systems, and to present methods and techniques for analysing, designing and evaluation these kinds of systems.

Contents: Basic theories and concepts from the Human-Computer-Interaction (HCI) area are presented, together with methods for analysis, design and evaluation of interactive systems. A brief introduction to relevant theories on aesthetics of the different presentation modalities in multimedia user interfaces (e.g. text, graphics, sound, film, ect.), and how these are interrelated and addressed. The course will provide the students experience with design methods through practical work with a specific multimedia interaction design.
